It's too big to be really profitable renting out - we need to release the equity to fund the development really, or it will take forever to finish.
Ah, I assumed when you said "having this house as well" you were keeping that one too

the bedroom tax has killed the rental market for big houses (which wasn't that great in the first place).

There are about three contractors I know at the moment who have the same problem. We all have big houses that we can't just pull the equity from and rent out.

No. We'll keep this one until we don't have it any more

Haven't done anything about selling this one, because until three days ago, I wasn't planning on moving. It's only because the new place has come available that we might move.

It's the dream house (as far as my wife is concerned).

And did I mention that it has a walk-in safe in the cellar?

One of the guys I work with has just started renting his house to five students, by the room.

But you need to be in a decent enough environment to do that - the students round here would torch the place and disappear with the fittings

I could go down the HMO route but as I like most of the neighbours I can't do that especially as that market is hard work.

House has appeared on rightmove though

I'm off to be interviewed by the Compliance Officer soon.

                  I may be some time.

And then again, I may not.

                  Interesting times.

MrsF is also looking into making an offer prior to auction.
