However, we now have sommat that reads in the WAV file, throws away the chunk at the start that I don't want, and changes the data into intel hex.

All I have to do now is put the checksum at the end & all will be well.

I've found that age and desperation can endow one with rose tinted glasses. but unfortunately it takes away the very things you need to pursue and bring down the sighted quarry.
