I used to walk home in the rain, back in the days when we had to wear shorts in all weather! I suggest you let your kids do the same! Toughen them up! The British Empire wasn't built by people who'd been picked up after school by their parents and taken home in a nice warm car you know!

It's party day today for DD2, so she will no doubt come out of school in a party dress which isn't really designed for the northern winter weather. I don't think MrsF will let me drive up to get them, though.

I went on a cub camp years ago and the kit list had long trousers as optional. So my parents sent me off with just shorts. It was february and a dads and lads camp. Saturday afternoon my dad had to come home and get some trousers for me as my legs were red and sore.

Her french teacher has high hopes for her as she is flying at the moment, and when we went to an oxbridge open evening for G&T children she fancied studying languages.

My parents went to an Oxbridge open evening, but only for the G&T.

They were pissed as newts.

DD1 never really like skirts for school and there is no chance of her wearing them now.

DD1 has a pair of culottes, but not for school.

They both have one pair of school trousers, but I can't remember the last time I saw them wear them. DD1 doesn't really like wearing jeans or trousers of any kind - when we go to Disney in February, it's a battle because she needs to be in jeans, leggings and tights pretty much all together because it's so cold.
