It's just taken 15 minutes to unload the previous versions of MPLAB and load a slightly more up to date V8.43.

I can remember when it came on 5 floppies.

It's 130Mb now.

The C compilers are separate downloads (you can get an "academic download" for freebie "lite" versions).

300Mb total for the 3 of them.

Yep, you won't be able to feel the snot dribbling out of your left nostril and you won't be able to see it either.
