            Think I'm on the mend. Have just blasted the lurgie with a chili con carne with added jalapenos. My eyes are streaming, mouth burning and I've a feeling that the phrase "through the eye of a needle" may be in use later

            It better be worth it

                Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaargh!

                Instead of

                Code:
                 Read_SPI( buffer );
                I should have had

                Code:
                 buffer = Read_SPI( buffer);
                which became clear on a) reading the assembler output and b) reading the so called manual.

                Ho frigging hum.

                Fancy thinking that it would return stuff in a char instead of via a pointer to char.

                I'm getting old.

                  Ah, you've got to love pointers.

                  Oh wait, no you don't.

                    A prime case of wasting days of my life by not RTFM properly.

                    It's now doing something more sensible.

                    I must have been in FORTRAN mode where everything is passed by reference &

                    Code:
                    SPI_read( SPI_chr )
                    would have made perfect sense.
