I've just been introduced to the concept of degrees and decimal fractions of a degree by google maps.

Is that the technical term for it?

                    So,
                    a) having finally got the gsm modem thingie fully enabled, and

                    b) discovered that the land line we were dialling doesn't have direct dial from outside (), so

                    c) having stolen a direct dial number from an assistant dean who's off getting himself elected to the WAG, and

                    d) having realised that the ancient modem I brought in wasn't seeing the RING signal on the line, then

                    e) a deft ATA answered the gsm modem's call (which I couldn't hear) &

                    f) lo! & voila! & sacre bleu! we got a connection from one room to another.

And managed to send 25 bytes from one to the other.

                    I is amazed.

                    Or something.
