thankfully we have hungarian goosedown duvets (still using the summer one they are so warm).
the plumber is coming back first thing tomorrow after having picked up the pump, which he'll charge us the actual cost.
He did warn us if the system hadn't been cleaned in a while that this may happen (turns out the previous owner hadn't cleaned it ever)
