    Last week, old chap.

There were no sellers that I could see this week.

I seem to remember a thing called a phlanger or flanger effects unit from a design in Practical Electronics in the 70s.

Not that I ever actually built it of course.

      And the wonderful spring reverb.

Which consisted of two crystal gramaphone pickups and an actual spring.

One pickup drove the spring and the other detected the results at the other end.

We'd never dreamed of bucket brigade audio chips in those days.

It was probably still OC71 territory.

One can still buy OC71 transistors if one so wishes.

Except that now they're £4.50 each.

The advantage of the OC71, OC44 and OC45 is that they presumably don't suffer from the dread AF117 disease.

Which is allegedly caused by tin whiskers forming inside the can.

Stone me, an AF117 is nearly £10

I have quite a few but they're all in my parent's loft. I've got a Cry-baby Wah, Big Muff Pi, Boss Chorus, Boss Delay, Boss SD1 Overdrive, Ibanez Tubescreamer, MXR Phase90 and probably others that I can't remember. It gets quite addictive once you start. So I stopped and got a digital modelling thingie that takes up less space but isn't as much fun.
