Another evening chatting late to John the landlord

He and some friends had had what he described as a "Jolly Boys' Outing" today - they took a minibus to Stamford and did some serious pub-crawling. They were back at the pub this evening, playing silly card games with nebulous rules and much friendly disputation at the next table

At one point he called over to me: "Hey Nick, can that magical device of yours get the racing results?"

Surmising, correctly, that he was referring to the iPhone, I hauled it out and went to the BBC's racing results page.

Lo! The ticket he proffered, showing a bet on (IIRC) the 2:40 at Haydock, £2.50 e/w, proved to be a winner, 7:2 favourite

Total fail on the rest of his bets, but one of his mates had a win at Wolverhampton
