Ah, that was what I was going to say: I PMd administrator to let him/her/it know about the TPD spider and its modes of operation, and how to contact me if they felt it was causing any problems. In a very pleasant response, he/she/it indicated that there was no reason to suppose it would be an issue, and expressed thanks for the heads-up
So, although I wouldn't go so far as to say that it has official approval, it can be said that it doesn't have official disapproval, which is as much as one could wish forComment

Anyway, the TPD spider seems to be chuntering away quite happily (I'm actually quite pleased with the way it copes with all kinds of things gracefully, given that some of them were outside its original design parameters - good job I ignored YAGNI a few times there) and the Reports from Coastal Stations are ending - time for an early night, methinks
