I had a similar arrangement on a PC I was using at Apricot. Worked for years.
The server is a PC that must be 10 years old. About the only part unchanged is the case. It has spent much of its life with the lid off and almost all its life without any screws in the case.
It runs (ran?) Windows 98SE. Security vulnerabilities? Wossat then?
Crikey, I remember that [WinGate]. While at Apricot I "evaluated" it with a view to pre-installing it on a little server box we were selling to SMEs at the time.
When I originally bought it (at version 2 or some such many year ago) it was a neat little product. Now it is bloatware. I won't miss it.
