Hmm... it went off again, but power-cycling it and the wireless router (for no very good reason) seems to have restored things - it didn't sync immediately, but managed it on the second try.

I'll have to keep an eye on it. It's not much help if I have to turn it off and on every five minutes; but maybe it's just a little local difficulty on the network. Fingers crossed
