You can hide from tornados under them, according to a film I saw.

Apparently you should only do this in films, though, as in real life the tornado kills you

        From Wikipedia:

Another commonly held belief is that highway overpasses provide adequate shelter from tornadoes. On the contrary, a highway overpass is a dangerous place during a tornado. In the Oklahoma Tornado Outbreak of May 3, 1999, three highway overpasses were directly struck by tornadoes, and at all three locations there was a fatality, along with many life-threatening injuries. The small area under the overpasses created a kind of wind tunnel, increasing the wind's speed, making the situation worse.

Hmm, might wander down that way; got distracted reading gubbins on Wikipedia, but I'm off now

Must remember to go via the tame Big Issue seller... promised him last night I'd buy one this evening.
