My all-time favourite Dilbert cartoon, this is: BTW, a Dumpster is a brand of skip, I think.

A passing crane fly flew over my tinned-fruit-and-ice-cream bowl. I swatted it with my spoon and in so doing knocked two legs into the bowl.

        The crane fly flew on.

        What a git.

Well, he's been with The Good Lady Scourer long enough for them to have had a child together, and although I've only met him and not her, other TPDenizens have met her, and speak highly of her; so I doubt she's suddenly changed after the wedding.

Being under the thumb of his cruel and exploitative capitalist taskmasters sounds much more likely than any change in attitude by TGLS - you know what those exploitative capitalists are like

              Yes. There's nobody else.

                Drivel.

                Do your shoes fit?

What is your preferred floor covering?

Seen any conkers lying on the pavements?

                Work up from there.

                  I think that's worth reiterating.
                  Consider it iterated.

I have read that part of their evolutionary inheritance is that their legs are disposable. They spend almost none of the period in their lifecycle when they are capable of breeding actually using their legs, although having at least some legs does come in handy on occasion. However, in the long term, they've spent most of their history flying low over damp grasslands containing predators that would make a grab for low-flying prey. Therefore, having long dangling legs that are easily detached and whose loss does not affect the likelihood of breeding proved to be an advantage in that it made it more likely that the predators would strike at - and gain - a fairly useless appendage, whilst leaving the important bit capable of breeding.

You now join that elite group of predators who have been foiled by a mechanism that evolved many millions of years ago
