When you say your sister doesn't get on with him, how do they interact?

Do they ignore each other / argue lots / have stilted conversation / make nice but it's all an act?

    Is the feeling mutual?

Has your sister expressed her feelings about him to your parents?

I wonder whether that could be part of the problem - not taking him home when Dad was in hospital may have inadvertatly sent a message.

Did he offer to go back?

No he didn't offer to go back, should that mean something?
