Congratulations
But... have you ever thought of just escorting them from the premises?
I'm terrified of spiders, but ever since I killed one of those long-legged ones when I was about sixteen, I've felt really guilty about killing them. After all, it wasn't the spider's fault I was terrified by it.
Since then, I've never knowingly killed a spider. I exert my best efforts to catch them and introduce them to the Universe beyond wherever it is that they're inconveniencing me by their presence. If I can't catch them I'll spend ages chasing them until they're far enough away from me that I can try to forget about them.
This actually paid off some years ago when I'd escorted a young lady to her home at the end of the evening and she discovered a spider in her bedroom, at the point where I was still sitting on the couch in the living room facing the prospect of a long walk home. When she fled to me for assistance, I admitted that I too, was terrified of spiders. She was despairing of the situation, so I called for a glass and a piece of stiff card. Armed with these trusty weapons, I entered the bedevilled bedchamber and, in short order, captured the offending arachnid. Urged by word and gesture, she got the window open, and the interloper was ejected into the night.
Her gratitude and admiration was vigorously expressed. Indeed, for all those who might think that admitting to a girl that you're frightened of a spider might make them think you wimpy, I should add that she made it very clear that a large part of her admiration for my epic feat was derived from the fact that I had admitted my own fear, yet conquered said fear for her benefit.
Still, as you're married to a woman who is presumably used to your attitude to spiders, maybe this tale is of no value to you.
Whatever; it's here for those who google for such mattersComment
