I've just measured the resistance of these 5W halogen bulbs... cold, it's about 2.5 ohms...

        So 12V / 2.5 ohms = 4.8A.

        25 x 4.8A = 120A...

        Oooooops...

That's going to need one hefty PSU...

            What voltage are they?

Even at 12 volts thats a big PSU. At 240V it's just plain scary

              12V.

It's the surge from cold that's the scary thing.

I've got 25 12V torchbulbs running off a meaty 2A psu & it sweats a bit when they all switch on together...

The original design used leds and ran happily off a 1A supply... but an ordering mistake with the LEDs scuppered that idea.

              Ho hum.

              It ain't my money

Could be your workshop that goes up in smoke though

Maybe you could code in a swanky startup sequence to make it look good and keep the inial load down.

When you switch on from cold, all the lights are on...

It won't be living up here much longer...

Now to source a 20A PSU... the 10A one was £40... I don't think my illustrious client realises quite what he's got himself into...
