The shirts were indeed dry
I've brought them in and put some more out
One (or more) of the previous tenants moved the washing line so it now passes right in front of, and about four feet away from, the main window of the downstairs rear flat. As a result I can only use about a third of it without blocking out their daylight, which would be somewhat unneighbourly.
It didn't matter when that flat was just being used for a cannabis farm, but there are people living there now.
