I've also got to try to remember how to use my Dataman S4 device programmer thingie...

When I say "my", my old company bought it in 2000, just before IR35 arrived... when I was busy buying stuff so Gay Gordo the fat controller wouldn't get his greedy hands on too much of my moolah.

I want to use it to program a 2464 EEPROM.

I think I bought the appropriate library...

It has to be said that its not had much, or really any, use... unlike my CrashBarrier eprom emulator which had daily use from 94 to 97...

Well, that's everything I can find on the Dataman site for the S4 downloaded...

Some of those accessories are distinctly pricey.

I can get a Microchip PicStart+ for about the same amount of money as the Dataman PIC programming adaptor... with the advantage that MPLAB knows about the PicStart+...
