On a tangent related to dogs and food, our pooch gave us a giggle yesterday.

Went out for a couple of hours in the evening. When we got back the dog was going absolutely ape. Barking, running up to us and then back to the living room and generally being a bit mental.

Went to have a look at what had wound him up, thinking maybe we'd had another blackbird come down the chimney.

Realised once we got there that Son had left his dinner plate with leftovers on the arm of the sofa. Doggie was sat in front of it doing his best "I'm a good doggie and I'm really cute and well behaved!" routine.

He could have hopped up on the sofa and licked the pattern off the plate while we were out and we would have been none the wiser but he knows he's not supposed to do that, and he only gets things like that when they are put down on the floor by his food bowl. So he had sat there for 2 hours, staring at it and driving himself up the wall waiting for us to get home so we would give it to him

I think I see the flaw in your logic....

For instance, the one I have now, scoffs M&M's when I'm not there to keep and eye on him!!

CM is quite correct and I deserve to be punished...

Oh, wicked, bad, naughty, evil Zoot! Oh, she is a naughty
person, and she must pay the penalty -- and here in Castle Anthrax, we
have but one punishment for setting alight the grail-shaped beacon. You
must tie her down on a bed and spank her!
