oracleslave - where you holiday depends on what you want to do. Pyramids and China sound nice, but might be over-rated. Petra would be good, or for some variety, try Hawaii - home to 11 of the 12 climate zones of the world.
monkey - did you find something entertaining to play / do online during the "party" on Saturday? Did you have chance to savour the red wine you had planned?
CM - sounds like you need to give your sister some space now. Whatever you do for New Year will be wrong from here - if you stay in Ireland, then she will say that you don't want to be there; if you don't then she will be annoyed that you didn't. You can't win, so do what will make you happiest.
