And this morning I was rushed off my feet with students in the project room...

There were 4 or 5 at one stage.

I helped the female one the most... :

She can't get this zigbee thingie to communicate with her C# program, for reasons that are quite beyond me... but maybe the zigbee receiver thingie a) got blown up yesterday when I overvolted it with 5V ( oooooops) or b) the zigbee thingies need setting up with a bit of hardware/software that we haven't got.

Indeed - but who isn't distracted by the prospect of a tasty treat

It seems like he may have a particular distraction of that ilk at the moment

Rather impressed with that one.

When we couldn't get the zigbee stuff to do much, she took the kit home & eventually got it to work at 4 a.m. by downloading some sort of configuration thingie from the website.

Got an offer of extension from ClientCo yesterday. Just under 7% rate cut though. But they offered 6 mths rather than the normal 3.

Congrats on the offer - nice to have some security at the moment. We're about to be asked to work an extra 3 hours a week for the same money, so essentially a ~7% rate cut here too. Might see if I can get a extension arranged to take me to the end of the year though.

Yep - really busy - hence my time on here is is very occassional now.

Yes - it's good to have an element of security through to September - especially whilst I try to get PlanB into a reasonable state.

Well, managed to get some 'Stuff' done around the house, stuff on the job front is not too good.
