My mother-in-law is one of those old school mentalist feminists. She did not approve of us owning a narrowboat.

When we told her she just railed on about how it is a penis substitute and the whole thing a metaphor for assulting women.

    Like I said, mentalist.

She didn't like my response: "I'm not aware of having had a fantasy about having a 62 foot willy and I cannot imagine that it would be of any practical purpose anyway."

"YOU'RE JUST IN DENIAL! AND NOW YOU'VE POLLUTED MY DAUGHTER'S MIND TOO WITH YOUR WATER-BORNE FILTH"

    Mentalist.

Not to mention the intellectual discourse that takes place at these venues - each pub is like a mini "think tank" tackling the real issues that matter to society.

I know the physics, but I still think magnets are magic. Anyone who disagrees isn't paying attention.

I was once chatting on the phone to a mate of mine while he was at his place of w*rk - an engineering company with a large array of CNC machines. We were merrily chatting away when there was a childish laugh in the background from his side, and he then excused himself for a moment. The line went quiet as he obviously put the phone down, then after a couple of seconds I heard a slap. He came back to the phone to report that one of the younger members of staff had been amusing himself by holding a rather large magnet against the side of one of the CNC monitors and admiring the patterns it generated on the display. My mate had therefore duly chastised said individual, demonstrating the error of his ways via a slap to the back of his head.

                      Lovely, a cup of tea.

Now then. Has that millennium gone yet?
