          Evening denizens

After the fairly interesting server monitoring thingy, I thought I was going to move on to something else moderately interesting. Unfortunately, an immediate requirement for something dull turned up instead

I'll have that finished off tomorrow morning, so maybe the moderately interesting thing awaits me then

It's become apparent what's going on at ClientCo, in light of the news today that the chap who runs the techies has expressed the need for three more "freelancers" (as they call us contractors).

Basically, they got a big project from a very big client. The tech guys were getting bored with PHP and wanted to get into Ruby on Rails, and this was their opportunity - after all, the advertising/marketing people whose company it is don't actually know enough to be able to argue if they say it's necessary to switch to a new platform "for the sake of doing the best possible job for the client"

So they're now hunting around for RoR contractors, and muggins here (together with a couple of permies and a couple of contractors) gets the dull little jobs that need doing in PHP

Ah well, 37.5% done at the end of this week

Just looking back through what I missed - I hardly posted anything all afternoon

(The drivel quality index was probably higher than usual then!)
Where are we going? And what’s with this hand basket?

Have you tried gentle persuasion? Or just slapping him around a bit?

Don't fancy giving the RoR a go yourself?
