They will make a nice "bonus" - particularly if Jobserve is as dead for the rest of the week as it was today.

Not a single job that I had the skills for. At least last week I was saying "I could do that, but I don't really want to" - today I didn't even have that luxury.

Oh well - nearly time for my holiday (week on Friday!)

"Last week. Are you security cleared to DV level? No? Oh, I can't tell you about it then, sorry."

Fingers crossed for you. It's normally the questions that you got wrong that prey on your mind after an interview, but more often than not it wasn't as bad as you thought.

I haven't done much C++ for a good while now, but the next assignment at ClientCo is looking at an existing application that is a mixture of C++ and VB - I'm not looking forward to it.

I used to have a range of stock answers for questions I couldn't answer. My old boss had a favourite question:

"How would you stop a mutating trigger error occurring?"

My answer, when he asked me at the interview, was

"I'd make sure I wrote it properly in the first place!"

(The answer he was looking for was to write a row level trigger which stores the data in an array or temporary table, and then have a statement level trigger which processes those records in the temporary table, thereby not mutating the table. I didn't have a clue, though.)

I've never done any of those before - anything that requires a symbol in it's name (let alone two!) is beyond me!!

            Apart from PL/SQL, that is.
