A year or so ago, a dozen of the top web standards bloggers were invited to Microsoft for a couple of days to discuss what MS could do to improve its standards support. First thing on the schedule was a one hour chat with Bill Gates about why web standards were important.

They all sat around the table in the meeting room, and Bill was brought in and introduced to them. They greeted him, then opened their laptops ready to take notes.
