I was just browsing Hotukdeals, honest! And knowing the clientele of TPD as I do, I thought it might be of some use

I thought it was probably of more use than the Ceramic Hair Straighteners for a quid @ Woolworths anyway.

What permissions should I have public_html set to? I don't do this web malarkey!!

Not sure - is that just the root folder for your content? If so, your host should have set it correctly.

I was going to point that one out

A check of my blog seems to indicate no problems of that ilk - templates seem OK, no dodgy users in the database or strange plugins/uploads.

A year or so ago I got hacked - they stuck a 1 pixel square iframe at the end of the most recent post, which loaded a page containing another iframe, which loaded a page from a Russian porn site, which tried to install nasties on visitors' machines

I noticed the front page was taking ages to load, and found it using Charles. A few weeks later, a mate of mine down the pub wanted to know why Google had blacklisted his site for hosting malware. I told him how to check, and he found that exactly the same thing had happened to him - once he cleaned it up Google restored his listings.
