I no longer mention such matters, and they seem to have stopped asking
FWIW, one is, it seems, supposed to use the "half-your-age-plus-seven-years" rule... why, I do not know.
Still, somebody has constructed a helpful graph. What the region above one's age is supposed to represent, I also do not know - those for whom one is fair game, perhaps?
If so, I'm glad I no longer work for Age Concern...
