 Greetings, denizens

I don't know how many of you encountered my mention of fixmystreet.com the other night, but I had a rewarding experience therewith, which I shall now inflict upon you all

Actually, all I'll do is cut'n'paste what I've posted there, with a few details elided:

I posted this in the small hours of Tuesday morning. Before noon that same Tuesday I received an email telling me that the relevant department at the City Council (CC) had been notified of the issue.

On Thursday morning I received an email from the personal - not departmental - email address of a CC Highways Officer (I don't know if he's the only one, or if they have lots) informing me that the problem is on their list, and should be fixed within "the next day or so" (and also expressing the hope that my toe hasn't suffered too seriously, which was nice, and it hasn't).

On Thursday evening I walked right over the spot inspiring this complaint before suddenly realising that it was fine... for a moment I was so confused that I checked the street name signs to make sure it was the same corner.

And it was, and it was fixed :-)

Kudos to the CC... and I'm not sure if using fixmystreet.com accelerated the repair, but it allowed the CC to keep me informed, so kudos there as well :-)

I think I'm probably going to get banned in the morning, but it's worth it, because it will happen as a result of standing up against some of the most contemptible posts I've ever seen (and I've been on Slashdot since it started).

If I am, take care, all you wondrous denizens

 How are you?

FWIW I wish he had used asterisks - in theory he should receive a 1 day ban (to be made permanent if he argues). Though I really really hope it does not come to that. I disagree with him - but I defend his right to say what he did.Comment
