So, there we have it... my super revised version of the decoder hardware is doing 470 samples per line where the original was doing 800.

I shall have to look at the PIC program tomorrow.

And the moment it's extremely unoptimised, since all it does is wait for the a2d to complete, then wait for the UART to finish transmitting.

I was thinking of watching that, but then decided on something a bit more cheery so watched Scrapheap Challenge instead.

Just time for another "quick" go on Fantastic Contraptions and then bed I think.

      Nitey nite

It wasn't as bad as all that...

The 2nd part next week gets to 1969 & all that.

Just tried watching Dexter Series 2. what a load of codswallop.

First of all he goes with his so called mentor in broad daylight to steal wind chimes form outside somebody's house, then takes her on a guided sightseeing tour around an FBI morgue????

Any semblance of realism has gone out the window with this show, I shan't be watching it again.

The scriptwriter needs taking out back and shooting

Can one do "interrupt driven" in VB3? I doubt it...

But presumably there's a COM component that could do this... or is one stuck with the (entirely unrelated to the Component Object Model, which isn't an object model in any usable sense) COM1 MS-DOS interface?

I get the feeling that you are about to dip your lizardly claws into the whole bizarre mélange that is the very early way of writing stuff for Windows versions later than 3 (i.e. 95+ and the WinNT family from NT4 up to XP and even [though MS won't admit this in public] Bista... "Ahhh, Bista").

If you have nothing much else to do over the summer, I would recommend reading everything, from the beginning, in Raymond Chen's blog - he knows more about the Win32 API than anybody, and writes intelligently about the reasons that it sucks so hard.

The book, derived therefrom, is also extremely good (my copy lies about five feet away as I type this, even though it has nothing to do with what I do these days), but the blog is free and a fascinating read, still updated daily

I believe the transition from cart to car bombing was an IRA thing in the Seventies, later adopted to great (or dreadful) effect in Lebanon during the anarchic chaos of the Eighties

                    Anybody else curious about QE?

Posts a few questions (not in General or LR) which positively invite answers by seeming to be a bit uninformed yet slightly controversial in terms of the underlying attitude... therefore the posts rise up the rankings such that the OP will get their UID moved out of the moderation zone pretty rapidly...

Didn't boo.boo do something similar, then suddenly get banned for no apparent reason (although some of us drew conclusions)?

Wonder how long QE will last... anyway, have a QE - sorry you couldn't make it to the summer balls-up
