Although I wouldn't mention it to my mother, I was having a bit of a backtrack though OAD earlier on, and noticed that some early posts are now redirected to the flickr "This image is not currently available" image
This reminded me of another idea I'd had relating to your original TPD posts - given that I'm crawling TPD, it's trivial to determine which FG posts are still valid (rather than being directed to link spam farms).
So it's also easy to cache the images at the end of all FG OAD links almost as soon as they're posted, such that even if they're no longer available on flickr, there could be a mechanism whereby the original flickr URL could be resolved to an externally-cached copy of the original image.
Although I'd probably want to know the truth behind the story of TPD post 3961 with CUK ID 109436 before I went to all that trouble - especially given that it would involve me paying for the image hosting out of my own pocket. -

Although "Do I know what happened to the deleted TPD post? No." is not the same thing as denying that you deleted it - I don't know what happens to a deleted post, beyond the conjecture that a record is removed from a database and some space on a disk is later overwritten by new data.
So your statement, though cleverly phrased, is not, in fact, a denial of your deletion of the post (which still doesn't mean that you did so, of course).Last edited by NickFitz; 10 June 2008, 02:19.Comment

I've always tried to make it clear that the fact that it was one of your posts that was deleted didn't mean that we could assume that it was you that deleted it.
If you're as sad as I am and go over the posts relating to the matter, you'll find that the general opinion of the community was also that you wouldn't have done that.
I'm glad to know for sure that it wasn't you, and I'm sorry to have harped on about it so much - but at least we know now that it was either one of the admins, or that your password has been compromised. I have to admit that I tend towards the belief that it was one of the admins
Anyway, thanks again FG - and thanks for OAD
(I'd vote for "Keep it going" again, if I had another account )Comment
