Foot & Mouth outbreak in Surrey.

Time to stock up on steaks and beef joints I think.
Prices will start to go through the roof again.

Probably linked to the foot in mouth outbreak on here recently

Come on Diver, this isn't funny. Potentially there are some awful consequences for farmers and their animals. I hope this time they (DEFRA) kill the animals humanely and compensate the affected farmers.

Did I say it was funny?

      Nope!

and it doesn't just affect the farmers, it affects us all:

      Think about it!

      1. Increases the trade deficit
      2. Increases shopping costs for consumers
      3. Increases Insurance premiums
      4. Bankrupts farmers
      5. Increases the rate of inflation
      6. Increases imports
      7. Decreases exports

          No bother my good chum.

Born and bred in the country and know full well the affects of a desease outbreak.

Very quiet on here this morning though. the other posters must have social lives

Remember the last outbreak? The way we dealt with it was shocking and very amateurish. Hope lessons were learned.

One for the conspiracy theorists/cynics amongst us.....

Isn't it strange that the outbreak appears to have originated in a government research facility that is near to the farm, and they traced it back to this government facility within hours of diagnosing it as foot and mouth.

What are the chances of el golden brown getting them to release foot and mount into the wild so he can clamp down on it quickly and with minimum fuss and look like a national hero just before he calls a snap election......

This is of course written in jest, i don't really think it was released on purpose, more likely blatant government mismanagement of the facility in question.

The wisdom of having F&M labs anywhere near farms with livestock has I think, been disproved.
