There's a big issue with this MBS billing thing. The company itself says they are legit, but I very much doubt it. I've told them I want the bill removed or I'll contact the police.

Here's a link for anyone interested:

      Agreed.

Moose, did you get rid of it from the various instructions in that link? This MBS sound nasty, especially as they are based in Leeds.

BTW, in that forum, I wonder what the speciality of pedboy is?

Edit: Just read down a bit, seems they might be in Bristol. Even worse.

Are you sure you didn't accidentally post it in here yourself?

How? It was originally in General. Is it possible to move it?

Anyway, I've got rid of the offending article...I think. I rebooted the PC and went into Safe Mode, where I was able to delete the 2 .exe files. When I tried to remove them in normal mode I was unable to, as they were constantly in use, and Task Manager couldn't stop them executing.

MBS are in Leeds, they have a PO box there, and they have no normal phone number that I can find, which makes me doubt if they're a responsible company. Or even if they are, it implies that they know that the sites that use them aren't reputable.

Oh well, now I've removed their software, and threatened them with the police, let's see what happens.

No legal expert but if they are making the computer unuseable such that the costs of the problems significently outweigh what they are owed, or if their terms were tucked away in all the typical stuff about copyright etc etc that downloadable programs normally contain, the legality might be dubious.

PS There is so much rogue software I would suggest it is unsafe to click on ANY porn site. Regard them as unreliable and dishonest by definition and avoid it. Certainly I would never give credit card details or click yes on anything agreeing to terms and conditions. Don a false moustache and go and buy a DVD at your local porn shop.

Even if MBS is legit, the companies using them could be playing dirty tricks by planting stuff on your PC.

I think whoever reckons that is on extremely dodgy ground.

If it's my computer I should be able to wipe anything I like from it.

Can you say "Sony rootkit"? Thought you could.

I have recently discovered that my wife installed the MBS system. Apparently, it came in an advert, and she somehow managed to load it up. A severe slapping has taught her never to do something like that again.

MBS replied to my email threatening them with the police, saying that I still owe £39.99. They can whistle for it as far as I'm concerned. Is there any way they can get my postal address from my email though? I wouldn't want some Russian heavies turning up at the door.

If you look at that forum you posted, especially the last week or so, they are doing something collectively. I think it involves the Grauniad though, so old plod will probably be chasing after SMB from Broltis.

It would be nice to catch them and stick them in a jar though.
