"Tell us more about how your sister died?"
I remember the good old days of this site when people used to moan about serious contractor related issues like house prices and immigration. How times have changed!?

I had an i/v with a big investment bank and one of the first things was they asked me to talk about myself for 5 minutes without any interaction from them & I was timed.

I was contracting for EDS once and was groomed into going for an interview for a permy job there, I got through the interview and was offered the job but when they started talking money I declined the job as their starting point was a third of what I was getting as a contractor and I couldn't see how they were going to get close to what I wanted, low and behold a week later they decided they didn’t need me any more with 2 months left to run... bastards.

I did a working interview for a firm of architects in London. Solved a really tricky SQL problem for the guy that impressed the sh1t out of him.

Then he goes and buys me a big barm, sits back with a big smile on his face.
'So how many hours will you book each week ?'
'Well a standard 37 - 40 hours is fine by me'
'No, not how many will you work, how many will you book ?'
              'Whaat ?'
'Well you cant book 37 hours at THAT rate'

'Oops I have just closed the app without saving it. Goodbye, thanks for the bap'

I was once asked all sorts of questions to do with coding windows apps, which threw me a bit as it was a web development position being offered.

Still got the contract though, the guy obviously didn't know how well or not I'd answered as he was a complete muppet.

Best one though was going for an interview where the development manager strolls in and starts banging on about how they need loads of technical architects to get the job done and I'd be under some serious pressure as they were having problems finding them. I nearly shat myself, I was just a lowly developer feeling a little out of my depth. He didn't ask anything technical at all and gave me the nod after about 10 minutes. They kept me on for over a year whilst the development manager was replaced soon after I started. Turns out he was a right billy-bulltulipter. Easiest interview I've ever had though, if only they were all like that

Had an interview yesterday here in Scandi!, the face to face stuff I find very very easy and the technical stuff is sometimes a little borderline, don't get me wrong, I know my stuff, just not as in depth in some areas as I'd like. However, my technical test consisted of do you know this, to which i'd reply yes, moreover, do you know that, to which I'd reply yes, ah that's ok then!!!!!!!!!!!!! MUPPETTs!!!!!!

                      I've had many...

                      Q: "Whats your typing speed"

Me: WTF? This is a job for using Paragon, AutoCad and Class.

Q: Describe the best invention of the 20th century.

                      Me: The Widget

Them: Well I'd have prefered you to say the internal combustion engine.

Me: That was the 19th century.
