The longer this goes on the more worried I get, I just want a figure or at least a starting point to work with. Each day that goes past I become more and more reclusive from my friends and family and sadly more alcohol dependant. I feel a figure, even a financially crippling one, must be better than this.
The original letter will reach it's 1st birthday in a few weeks, with my response now 8 months ago.

Speaking to the kind yet under trained phone staff at HMRC I am slightly less nervous now because I seem to think this is the norm.

Still, has anyone waited +12 months for a response?

it might be the norm but it doesn't mean it is right. Raise a complaint .

Won't matter at the moment - they will just use Covid as the excuse to justify their intentional delays.

Just chill out and cross that bridge when you come to it. I would also go as slow as they do, I probably would not even reply to the first letter, post gets lost all the time. Don't make yourself an easy target for state gangsters.
Good advice in my opinion and has worked for me in the past. Been eleven years for me with no reply so these things happen. I'm assuming it's all forgotten about now, they never even opened an enquiry - just alluded to it. I sleep just fine and always have.
