Well that's what happens when you have 2.1 million Europeans pouring in. Why train young people when employers get qualified cheaper Europeans. We are told that majority of young people want to stay in EU, why when they are being sidelined by cheaper workers...imo there is a definite correlation between those leaving Uni with degrees and only getting Starbucks jobs and the mass movement of Europeans into UK. -
i'm not sure I entirely agree but the point is taken. There must be an effect. What I see a lot of is jobs that used to "Draftsman" and were ONC/HNC level are now "Design engineers" and are recruited into by graduates with three or four years experience on about £24k a year. Which is not much more than the "Draftsman" earned in the early 90's. Further more, a project that might have used 20 draffies now uses two or three design engineers on CAD workstations.Originally posted by LandRover View PostWell that's what happens when you have 2.1 million Europeans pouring in. One of my many children has completed his higher education (decent 2:1) and is ..... in the USA.
Another completes his education process this summer and has a job lined up ...... in the USA.
Another is in her first year at Uni and is planning on joining her brother in due course ..... in the USA.
Another is into computers and whatever and sees a career in Silicon Valley calling .... in the USA.
Finally, one actually works for a living .... in the USA.

Graham, my daughter studied one academic year at Texas A&M. How did your children manage to get work visas? My daughter would love to work there but seems she can't get a work visa.Public Service Posting by the BBC - Bloggs Bulls**t Corp.

One has a J1 visa, good for 13 months. He's on a year internship that he hopes will turn to a full time job - we'll see.
One plays pro sport in the USA and his club sorted his visa 8 years ago - he now has a green card.
Another is a "specialist" and has a job from September alternately lecturing and curating a museum.
My daughter is at a Uni that has strong links with the US West Coast community.
Our youngest (nearly 16) has not tested the visa system yet but seems to think that IT types should not have a problem.
So - just good luck reallyBest Forum Adviser & Forum Personality of the Year 2018.

Auto generated HMRC nonsense
Not an APN but on a enquiry I had a similar thing - HMRC asking for a student loan payment as part of the determination higher than the outstanding loan.Originally posted by difficulttimes View PostHas anyone else had this? Have you managed to have this reduced/removed through representation? If so how?
I just wrote them a letter appealing on the basis that I couldn't owe more than what was outstanding on the student loan and they accepted it and recalculated a new figure based on what I told them. Possibly an easy APN appeal win if that's useful to you? They clearly haven't done appropriate due diligence on what you need to pay. Yet again.

A vast majority of APNs are completely overblown. It is simply HRMC "trying it on" - on an industrial scale.Originally posted by bobajob View PostNot an APN but on a enquiry I had a similar thing - HMRC asking for a student loan payment as part of the determination higher than the outstanding loan.
