Can Big Group help with any of the following:
    • Protecting me against future demands for loan repayment
    • Stopping the stress of years of HMRC dragging this out just rolling onto up to 30 years of wondering when the loan repayment demand will come in
    • Taking legal actions against what really does appear to be fraud

I'd love to join. But after crashing out of contracting because of mental health issues (really not helped by this!) I have ended up in a minimum wage job, so I just don't have even moderate amounts of cash to be throwing around unless it's actually going to help.

Sorry if this question has been covered already, but I have been at this for hours already and if anyone tells me to read another novel length thread I swear I will scream!

(Also, I am sorry for not doing the whole "ask not what Big Group can do for you, but what you can do for Big Group" thing, but I'm already doing two big things for free alongside actual job and everything else, so I just don't have the bandwidth.)

Why not ring WTT and ask?
Webberg is the man on here and they offer a free initial consultation.
At least you would be talking to a human being who understands the position.
Also Phil Manley offers similar at a firm called DSW.
You can google either of them and of course other advisors are available.

Why do you assume I haven't? I have an appointment with WTT in a week.

But I would like to hear what people who aren't employed by WTT think of Big Group.

Apologies. You asked what big group could do for you. I suggested you ring them and highlighted the free initial consultation and gave an alternative too.

I assumed you hadn't spoken to them because you were asking what they could do.

I don't work for big group, WTT or DSW for that matter.

I can answer the above questions, but clearly am connected to Big Group and by dint of the subsequent clarification, disqualified?

As just a humble contractor caught up in this nightmare, WTT have been a marvellous help for me.
Do have a chat with them, they are very good listeners.

Sorry Piebaps, I'd had some snarky responses on another topic so was overly defensive. I apologize for misreading the tone and being rude.

                  Hi Webberg,

I'd love to hear your answers thank you.

Ultimately Big Group, WTT, etc are businesses - some might argue they are cashing in on the plight of contractors involved in this mess and that this forum provides meaty pickings. I guess ultimately it is your decision and depends on your available funds. If you decide to settle with HMRC, I don’t think any 3rd party can bargain down your settlement figure - you provide the facts, they provide the figures. Any tax consultant can confirm whether they are correct or not, if need be. Just my opinion, happy to be corrected by Webberg, if am over-simplifying their services....

I think the summary above is correct.

We are a business. We operate by convincing contractors that there is an alternative to the HMRC analysis. We had hoped that HMRC would have seen the sense in that position, but being honest, that is not happening and we are gearing for a legal fight.

Settlement is something that we deal with but do not recommend.

Settlement is a misnomer. It;s not a settlement. It's accept the HMRC position or not - take it or leave it.

We cannot get discounts - nor can anybody else.

We try to include dealing the loans, but some lenders are reluctant.

We are very clear. We cannot and do not guarantee the success of our litigation.

We have developed our offering and certainly legal recourse and resisting loan demands are within our scope now as well as IR35 reviews, both new contracts and finished ones, as well as a safe way of working into the future.

Other firms offer all or some of the above. Which one you join is your choice.
