    Have checked.

I'm told that the traffic the forum was getting (more than anticipated) means that we need to upgrade it for various issues, including security etc. That has happened and we now need the server to refresh. Once that's done, we'll reopen it. We anticipate this evening.

Please bear in mind that I don't really "do" computers and am repeating what I thought I was told.

It makes sense. Increased traffic is a very good sign
Looking forward for BG forum to be back shortly, bigger and stronger.

Increased traffic is not always a good sign - DOS!

There is quite a big gap from "increased traffic" to DOS...
I'd go with the "sloppy hosting solution" hypothesis rather than "l33t HMRC hackerz" for now

We had a very useful conference call with HMRC this week.

We now understand their reasoning behind the latest enquiry letters, timetables and importantly how to go about responding.

As reported elsewhere HMRC is planning a discovery assessment campaign and wish to be as accurate as possible in quantum, accepting that taxpayers will appeal the assessments anyway.

Next step is to get to grips with the facts and analysis of the pre and post 2011 schemes.
