      Everything should be legal to eat/drink, leave it up to the person/parent to decide, natural selection will take care of it.

        Fortunately, I don't think anyone is suggesting making any foods or drinks illegal.

              True, but as far as I'm aware it's only Brillo proposing that. Such a ban would be easily circumvented by adding sugar to drinks. Invest is Sodastream now.

                    Natural selection deals with slow changes. That's why environment changes happening over even "slow" time periods like a thousand years can easily wipe out an entire species. Once a species is able to alter its environment, natural selection loses its efficacy. For instance, we can keep people alive and reproducing who have all kinds of traits that are undesirable.

                    The entire history of humans as we define the term is the merest blink of an eye, we could quite easily wipe ourselves out before natural selection has a chance to catch up
