I'm struggling to value:

- A blog by an engineer with a 1st degree in geology, 'peer reviewed' by a history graduate working as a journalist who writes an article about it in a newspaper...

as highly as:

- A peer reviewed study or article published in a respectable learned journal.

It just doesn't seem to have the same weight, so while I cannot determine whether the blog is incorrect or correct, I must respectfully decline to accept it as scientific evidence.
