the thing is you can pay between £100 and £700 for a 10" tablet - and whilst I would (on account of experience) ignore the £100 ones you can get from Maplins as soon as you go to a decent make - e.g. nexus/samsung etc etc then just get one with the specs you want - do not spend an extra 3-400 quid unless nothing else does the job.

Unless obviously you want to wave an iPad around and look like a douchebag hipster but then you did not state that in your original requirements!

I have the new Nexus 7, a great tablet (and fits in my Jeans pocket), also have an ipad3 but never use it (in fact the missus has claimed it as hers now!

Except that iPad is still a strong contender regardless of hype, if you don't require SD/USB. It's objectively an excellent product.

My kids have between them got a Nexus 7 a Kindle HD (rooted to remove Amazons restrictions) and a Samsung 7 inch. Of those I'd say the Nexus wins easily followed by the Kindle with the Samsung in third place.

Depending on what you want it for (and whether you need the latest processor etc.) you can still get a Nook HD+ from Argos for £130 for the 16GB model. Has a slot for an SD card and you can (if you look online and follow the instructions, or pay someone £10 or so) put stock Android on there if you want.

Doesn't have a camera on it, which may or may not be a good thing.

Can't find the exact page I was looking at, but they had the various options ranked as 1. iPad 2. Nexus 10 3. everything else. You might be able to find the list with a bit more patience than I've got....
Am I getting this right? Nexus 10 was released in 2012 and hasn't been updated since?
