And yet UKIP wants to pull out of Europe, destroying our car industry, in order to trade with the likes of India and China
You couldn't make stupidity of that sort up.
What car industry, what there is all foreign owned, and using robots and cheap foreign labour
Do they even pay taxes in the UK ?
Socialism is inseparably interwoven with totalitarianism and the abject worship of the state.
No Socialist Government conducting the entire life and industry of the country could afford to allow free, sharp, or violently-worded expressions of public discontent.
More sense of self entitlement than Elena Ceacescu.
Are you talking about Bliar or SAS ?

And SadGuru is back. Witty repartee available straight from the horse's Ass.
Actually while I was joking, I envisage something like that happening.
e.g. All the car companies will relocate elsewhere in Europe probably giving their important value-added staff the option of relocation. I doubt that option would available to assemblers and the like.
US banks will want to be where Europe's most powerful economy is i.e. Germany, so they'll favour Frankfurt over London for any future expansion. Only highly skilled staff will be able to move over from London.
And so on and so forth.
In a way I wish UKIP would come to overall power in a general election, I would watch it all with interest - from Germany or Switzerland.

DO you know how many they employ? Not to mention the size of the supporting supply chain which has grown quite large recently.
As for taxes, not sure how it works but they can't be worse than amazon or google

which will easily be preventable by simply reducing corporate taxes, which even Labour will be forced to do in the circs - So it's win win all round!
You can bet your bottom dollar that, if the UK were to leave, the EU would want to make to clear to others that might harbour the same thoughts that the costs would be prohibitive. Otherwise if you can have the benefit of trade without the costs of membership then everyone would do it, wouldn't they?
So yes I would expect punitive tariffs on our good and services.
The British market for German cars is quite big but has already been overtaken by China - the Germans will jump at the chance to put duties on Jags and LandRovers - which means Tata will simply have to move production to somewhere within the EU, as will Nissan, Mini, Honda etc. etc.
It has taken several hours for three plankton cells to come up with this garbage. According to your logic any one with a brain will leave the UK to find that there are no jobs anywhere else in the EU. Because you don't fall into this category it looks like we are stuck with you.
Do you really think that the indominatble fighting spirit that made Britain the worlds greatest ever military machine in history will allow itself to be bullied by a bunch of unelected eurotw*ts? If the EU thinks that it can impose soviet style authoritarianism on anyone wishing to leave then countries will queue up to leave.
However none of this will happen anyway because most people are grown up enough to understand economics and the art of deal making. Angela merkel is the best leader in europe today and Cameron is no idiot. The powers of Europe are hardly going to start an "I have a bigger willy" tarriff war. If you think they are then I have obviously credited you with three more plankton cells than there really exists
Let us not forget EU open doors immigration benefits IT contractors more than anyone

Or to put it more diplomatically, the EU is not going to cut off its nose to spite its face. It deals quite satisfactorily with other non-EU markets.

We could trade, it would be at a disadvantage.
Walk round Manhattan as opposed to the City of London and see how few German cars there are due to import duties.
The EU has a standard 10% tariff on importing non-EU built cars into the EU, hence why the Jap companies are based in the UK.
Yes we could trade, but why would TATA, Nissan, Honda and Mini stay here if their cars are suddenly 10% more expensive in European markets?
Their bosses are on on record as saying they would move and I don't blame em
About 3/4 million people in the supply chain from design through manufacture to sale and maintenance, and that's just cars. That's not even counting trucks, tractors, construction vehicles, buses, motorbikes and so on.
And what exactly is wrong with an "ad hominem" argument? Dodgy Agent, 16-5-2014
No it will be a bit like Switzerland where prices on everything are high.
Try buying a steak in Zurich - £20 for a small one if you are lucky.
And all the foreign owned car companies will relocate to Europe - they are only here for access to European markets - you think the Germans won't be rubbing their hands with glee if they can put import duties on Jags and Range Rovers?
Christ on a bike. We import far more from the EU than we export to the EU.
In contrast the UK has a positive balance of trade with the rest of the world.
How many frickin times do we have to tell you this???
