The other thing your dogmatic recital fails to take into account is that capitalism as it stands simply doesn't distribute wealth to the poorest....

The poor are trapped in poverty because they are imprisoned within the the suppressive command and control systems of socialism and the state. They are housed, fed, educated and nurtured by the state. If they were given capitalist style choices (education for instance) they would be empowered by having access to capitalism.

Did they become poor because of socialism, or are they voting for socialism because they are poor? And what made them poor in the first place?

IMHO rich will vote for rich people - who prefer not to be taxed all and would rather not house the poor. Essentially, the rich want the poor to "eat cake" as it were.

The beauty of capitalism is that it doesn't distribute wealth evenly. It distributes according to the wants of the people who live by it.

Perhaps in 400-500 years after society has totally collapsed, a bunch of really really clever people will get together and create a new system - where there is no money and anyone can have pretty much what they want. There will be no poor and no rich.

How would people have what they want when you don't know what products to make in your factory because there is no money, and therefore no prices?

When you see that trading is done, not by consent, but by compulsion–when you see that in order to produce, you need to obtain permission from men who produce nothing–when you see that money is flowing to those who deal, not in goods, but in favors–when you see that men get richer by graft and by pull than by work, and your laws don’t protect you against them, but protect them against you–when you see corruption being rewarded and honesty becoming a self-sacrifice–you may know that your society is doomed. Money is so noble a medium that is does not compete with guns and it does not make terms with brutality. It will not permit a country to survive as half-property, half-loot.

“Whenever destroyers appear among men, they start by destroying money, for money is men’s protection and the base of a moral existence. Destroyers seize gold and leave to its owners a counterfeit pile of paper. This kills all objective standards and delivers men into the arbitrary power of an arbitrary setter of values. Gold was an objective value, an equivalent of wealth produced. Paper is a mortgage on wealth that does not exist, backed by a gun aimed at those who are expected to produce it. Paper is a check drawn by legal looters upon an account which is not theirs: upon the virtue of the victims. Watch for the day when it bounces, marked, ‘Account overdrawn.’

“When you have made evil the means of survival, do not expect men to remain good. Do not expect them to stay moral and lose their lives for the purpose of becoming the fodder of the immoral. Do not expect them to produce, when production is punished and looting rewarded. Do not ask, ‘Who is destroying the world? You are.

“You stand in the midst of the greatest achievements of the greatest productive civilization and you wonder why it’s crumbling around you, while you’re damning its life-blood–money. You look upon money as the savages did before you, and you wonder why the jungle is creeping back to the edge of your cities. I am talking about income share due to capital and labour and have been all along. The distribution of the stock of capital is a separate but related matter. This works (because of the income distribution) overwhelmingly in favour of those who already have captial.

Either you misunderstand the nature of a ponzi scheme, or the nature of investment. If you invest some of your slice of the pie to help someone grow the entire pie bigger, then your reward is a chunk of that new pie growth, greater than the original bit of pie that you had to give up. There's nothing ponzi scheme-like about that.

If on the other hand your ROC isn't tethered to actual pie growth, through inflation, then perhaps one could call that not too dissimilar from a ponzi-scheme. But monetary policy (and i'll ignore for now our compulsion to participate in whatever paradigm our overlords say we must) and capitalism are two entirely different things.

People become poor or remain poor whenever freedoms are taken away from them. Socialism creates false hope where in reality all it does is keep people poor and consign others into poverty. What it does do however is enrich the powers that administer the socialist environment.

You could also replace the word socialism with religion, imperialism, liberalism conservatism, in fact nearly anything ending in 'ism! It doesn't matter what label you give it, once a group of people have more of something that another group want then the second group become enslaved to the needs of the first.
