Originally posted by xoggoth View PostSome here seem to be ignoring the growing extremism of political Islamism all over the world. Not just terrorists or extremist groups but governments. Take Malaysia for example, a nation that has always been seen as the most moderate of Islamic nations. Legislation is being pushed through that will criminalise use of the word Allah by others, although it has also been their word for god for centuries. Another recent ruling prevents non Muslims from being represented by anyone other than a Muslim lawyer in the Shariah courts. That's equality?
As for democracy, where does it exist in the Islamic world? Try looking at the details of the few that have elections, the chances of non Muslims getting above the lowest levels in government or the military in places like Pakistan, Bangladesh or the Maldives is zero. Or even Muslims of the "wrong" sort, the Maldives only allows Sunni Muslims to be citizens.
Throughout the Muslim world Islamic governments are becoming more extreme and more intolerant and there is a rising tide of violence against Christians and others. It was the archbishop of Canterbury, not Nick Griffin, who stated that Christians in the Middle East are being "attacked and massacred".
People really should try and check the facts from reliable sources rather than rely on illogical extrapolations about people they know.Last edited by lilelvis2000; 15 May 2014, 18:27.McCoy: "Medical men are trained in logic."
