Why is it that when I look back over the millenia I see nothing but improvement and advance, but looking forwards pj and people like him see nothing but doom, gloom and disaster ?

I can see no reason to see why things will change, ignore the doom sayers

The NOAA are predicting a massive recovery in the Summer arctic ice minimum, not a bit, or a small recovery, nope..... a f***ing massive recovery.

Why is it that when I look back over the millenia I see nothing but improvement and advance, driven by artificially cheap energy and a past in which challenges like acid rain, the ozone hole and pesticides were addressed before they did too much damage but this time we're ignoring the best scientific advice which warns of a future risk varying from nil to catastrophic?

I can see no reason to see why things will change, ignore the scientific concensus

I will say that I deeply regret that any scientist, particularly such a distinguished scientist as Bengsston, has had to put up with these attacks. This past week, we have seen numerous important and enlightening statements made by Bengtsson about the state of climate science and policy, and science and society is richer for this. We have also seen a disgraceful display of Climate McCarthyism by climate scientists, which has the potential to do as much harm to climate science as did the Climategate emails. And we have seen the GWPF handle this situation with maturity and dignity

Could it be that climate scientists are trying to hide something?

Like their science is complete junk.

This is an example of "consensus", not based on rational scientific discourse. The "consensus" is "if you disagree with us, we'll beat the sh**te out of you".

Bengtsson needs to MTFU. there again, he has not provided any evidence to back up his claims of 'group pressure', more likely his more sensible colleagues had a quiet word advising him that membership of Nigel Lawson's anti-science think tank with its shadowy backers was not not going to enhance his CV much.

If you want verifiable examples of 'attacks', there are many documented against Michael Mann, James Hansen, Phil Jones, Kevin Trenberth et al, for example the leading denier blog thought this comment fit to publish

How does this blogger "Stoat" know, did he interview him? or did he simply make it up so rather uninformed people can simply post a link to make a point.

Lets face it this thin skinned approach is just a sign of losing the argument.

...let us see what happens to the arctic ice in September because there is an awful lot more thick ice floating around than there was last year. Meanwhile "the consensus" crumbles.
