He later said "we'll do what we can". Send the bloody SAS or something then.
I don't think it should have spaces in it. And they're not "our" girls.

As we (mostly) aren't trained soldiers with access to advanced weaponry and intelligence calling for the government to deploy troops is about all we can do, apart from joining in the tweets which I am not really impressed by.
While you're waiting, read the free novel we sent you. It's a Spanish story about a guy named 'Manual.'

Agreed. This tweeting business feels somehow incredibly tasteless.
Practically perfect in every way....there's a time and (more importantly) a place for malarkey.

Arguably it does do some good.

Three weeks ago, nobody was aware of the issue.

I only knew about the kidnap because I clicked through to Africa news to see what was happening with the Prestorius trial, and it was several stories down.

Social media raises awareness which puts pressure on governments to put pressure on other governments. Obama has now sent help (dunno if we have too?). I don't reckon this would have happened if it hadn't got into the public consciousness.

Apparently this (girls being kidnapped) has been happening for ages, and has happened since, just not on the same scale.

Fair point. I'd be useless in the jungle. That's why we pay to train soldiers for such things.

Raising awareness is good although for everything that becomes super-high-profile, 20 others are not getting noticed.

Some events benefit from high profile though and I'm not sure this is one of them. Some kidnappers might relish the publicity!

Strange how those who complain most about slavery are those that are still practicing it......

President Goodluck Jonathan has now accepted help from the United States, Britain, France, China and Israel, which have sent specialist teams to help in the search effort.
So the SAS may already be there.
