Arguably it does do some good.
Three weeks ago, nobody was aware of the issue.
I only knew about the kidnap because I clicked through to Africa news to see what was happening with the Prestorius trial, and it was several stories down.
Social media raises awareness which puts pressure on governments to put pressure on other governments. Obama has now sent help (dunno if we have too?). I don't reckon this would have happened if it hadn't got into the public consciousness.
Apparently this (girls being kidnapped) has been happening for ages, and has happened since, just not on the same scale.Comment
