How is this dealing with racism? Will the guy who threw the banana now suddenly become more tolerant? It was merely a humorous action by the player, now being pumped by social media as an cure for racism.

It's a way for the targeted individual to deal with it, saying "I'm not going to let you affect me, in fact I'm making fun of you".Originally posted by Unix View PostHow is this dealing with racism? With any luck, the banana thrower will be mercilessly mocked by his fellow fans and won't live this down in a long time.Originally posted by Unix View PostHow is this dealing with racism? It isn't dealing with racism. Any more than eating the banana was dealing with racism.Originally posted by Unix View PostHow is this dealing with racism? Yes, it was funny, but only that.
My post was an observation of the fact that racists believe that they are somehow innately better than others, yet failed to recognise the fact he clearly WASN'T innately better than the player he was seeking to belittle.
I seem to have either failed to make my point, or failed to understand the opening article.Comment

I only ever insulted the one dressed in black...Originally posted by stek View PostI cringe at the treatment black players got in the 70's - and I joined in. The follies of men's youth. Deeply embarrassed now thinking back...“Brexit is having a wee in the middle of the room at a house party because nobody is talking to you, and then complaining about the smell.”Comment

How I'm viewed by the kind of person who thinks racism towards rich people is OK really isn't going to upset me.Originally posted by evilagent View PostI disagree.
