France (69.0), Germany (77.1) and Switzerland (80.6) are all below us (i.e. more unequal societies).

      UK (67.7)

Just better but more unequal, perhaps the UK values equality more than Germany, etc?

        What are those numbers?

The UK gap between rich and poor is worse in Germany. Hard to believe.

How many other economies are part of a currency union with neighbours that weaken that currency to their advantage?

You've summed up perfectly what it means to be living in Scotland and why I had to get out.

Also I imagine Germany is still absorbing East Germany.

Not really true when considered relative to cost of living and especially accommodation costs. The overall standard of living is pretty good.
