As a big fan of the Ender's Game series, I'm really dreading watching the film. Not so much for fear they've changed the story (though the trailer suggests they have) but that it'll be polished American actors playing composed, cool late teens. It's easy to forget just how young and small these kids are supposed to be.

I saw film first, then read book - film is ok, good in fact - main issue is that Harrison Ford was wrong person to be used. Underated movie it was, the boy who played main character did really well.

It's the kids being better than they should which was the only downside of the film for me but I can see how it actually makes the story line if you get me. I am sure it made for a great read in the book but looked a bit odd on screen for exactly the reason you say.

For me by far the worst character in the film was that black fella who was the in charge of the recruits. Completely the wrong character for the role.

I watched Gravity too. I'm sure it was impressive in the cinema, but apart from that the story is entirely linear and shallow. Wouldn't bother if you've not already seen it.

What about TV series? House of Cards is awesome so far (7 episodes in). Kevin Spacey is great.

That was when Mickey Rourke was good looking, as opposed to looking like play dough.

It was all a bit Dick Van Dyke - Mary Poppins, wasn't it? Which is ironic as the guy is a real Londoner.

"Sex Mad Karate Kids in Blue Suits go looking for Love" an 80s hit! Probably as rare as Animal Farm (the dodgy version).
