"Foreign born" is a pointless term.

Someone who came here in 1940s but was born in India will be classed as "foreign born" according to statistical methods commonly used to collect data, but so would someone born in Poland who came here in 2007.
unfortunately its a verifiable fact that is easy to trace. Nationality can change or be a matter of personal opinion with dual passport holders, place of birth is the easiest way to be sure. Boris is foreign born as are a number of political figures so their fortunes will count as pro migration.

I suspect its fairly rare , those serving in the forces , foreign office overseas or working abroad and having children abroad are not a large numbers in real terms.

We all want Bill Gates to come into the country and spend money. Bill Gates with an entourage of millions of poor people we probably don't need.

Its the same with immigration, we have a small (relatively) number of high value migrants which no sensible person would be against letting in and millions of low value migrants. lumping them together with less desirable migrants and assuming that the whole population is similar is obviously quite idiotic but its what the pro migration lobby consistently do.

If it can be shown despite the value of your mates, Russian Oligarchs, deposed tyrants and tax avoiding billionaires the whole population actually costs £3000 a year each it seems like something we should discuss.

of course you can carry on using anecdotal and unscientific arguments to support your case or you could show some intelligence and give us some facts.

Of course using your scientific process we could probably show that as many jellied eels are eaten in London then the cause of London's success is down to Jellied Eels.

You're too innumerate and/or stupid to argue with. This was proved a while back I remember when several people pointed out your flaws in basic reasoning and only your bone-headed stupidity made you carry on posting till you made an arse of yourself.
That's an observation not an ad-hominem attack.
There was an article about the lack of mathematical skills in the adult population only yesterday.

      You want facts:

      1. London is the most economically successful and productive part of the UK.
      2. London is majority immigrant according to Migration Watch definitions.

So, in London, at least, it really is very unlikely indeed that the average immigrant is costing £3K.

Does anyone have the figures for how much non-immigrants cost, using the same methodology?

So I'm so stupid you changed the parameters to reflect my arguments ?

My original post was about London.

I believe immigrants in London must make a net contribution since (1) they are in the majority and (2) London is so successful.

I can't speak of immigrants in other parts of the country but I would be surprised if they were more lazy than their British counterparts.
And it would be very surprising if they were so extraordinarily lazy that they dragged the figures down so much.

It's far more likely that MigrationWatch, having an axe to grind, have made up some spurious figures, especially as other studies, from more respectable institutions, show the opposite.

Not strictly true. If you look at the top 5 sources of "foreign born" immigrants, two of them (US & Germany) consist almost entirely of British nationals or those with dual citizenship.
